Google Sites Updates We Can’t Wait For

Here at Damson Cloud, we are constantly looking towards new ways of transforming the way we work. With that in mind, Fintan Murphy takes a look at Google Sites, picking out some of the most interesting updates coming our way in 2020. Across the next few months, we are aware that Google has some exciting updates in its pipeline. A particularly interesting update is realised in the soon-to-be-added templates feature. Those familiar with tools such as Google Docs or Sheets will be aware of set templates that have been created by Google itself - as well as people who have created and shared their own. We’re happy to say that this feature will be fully available with Google sites very shortly, which is going to have a really powerful impact in its own right. For example, you could have a template around specific use cases, and businesses will also be able to create their own templates around specific workflows, saving them within the template gallery. 

Up next on our list is revision history, which is coming to Google users very soon. We’re used to this in tools such as Google Docs, Slides and Sheets, allowing us to go back to a previous version of a document. You’ll now have that same capability within Google Sites, allowing you to go back and restore previous versions. This is awesome and we’re really excited about that one.

Last but not least, we have Google Search. We believe everyone should use Google Search, and we’ve really appreciated that feature being included as a feature on Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) if you’re using Business or Enterprise. This allows you to search for all Google products at the same time (how this will work is unclear - but we can’t wait to find out). Essentially, the power of cloud search is going to be brought into Google Sites, and we can’t wait to see it. Perhaps we will be able to embed this feature within a page - only time will tell.
