SaaStock 2024: Our Highlights

As you’re no doubt aware, last week we sponsored and attended the annual SaaStock event at the RDS in Dublin. We had a great time over the 3 days, meeting new people, discussing the benefits of Google Workspace and attending some of the great talks put on by the event organisers.

Most tech businesses utilise Google Workspace
From the majority of conversations we were having, we noticed that most businesses these days in the SaaS industry are using Google Workspace. They may have additional licences for products like Slack or Zoom – but the dominant tool for productivity and collaboration was Google Workspace and not Microsoft. That was interesting to us, as in our day-to-day operation we get a mix of both, some looking to Migrate and others looking to maximise their potential with Google Workspace. It was far less Microsoft orientated at SaaStock, with over 95% of the people we spoke to already on Google Workspace. Most of our conversations were around how we can help companies already on Google. Consolidation
This led us to many conversations about consolidation – explaining how far Google Meet and Chat had come to replace Zoom and Slack. We’ve already done a comparison recently on Zoom vs Meet and businesses we spoke to weren’t fully aware of the updates to the functionality of Google Workspace to allow businesses to avoid costly licensing across multiple 3rd party software providers when they can utilise Google Workspace to its fullest capacity.
The SaaS industry is thriving despite challenges
One of the consistent themes throughout 2024 is the struggle that SaaS and Tech companies have encountered. Budgets are slimming down due to an increase in costs in business across the board, so it was refreshing to see so many SaaS businesses at SaaStock. Lots of the talks were about how to maximise the latent potential within your business with some great talks about how to scale efficiently and how to demonstrate your product library in a way that gets the users excited.
AI is here to stay
Plenty of the discussions at the event were about AI. Most of the stands had some variant of AI product or “powered by AI” solution, in stark contrast to last year where it was still in its relative infancy.
